District 5
Elizabeth Gould

Elizabeth has lived in Murray County since birth. She is a 34 year teaching veteran, including 25 in Murray County.

For more information, see Gould's website at www.voteliz.dlzdesigns.com

" I want to make sure we are providing every child in Murray County with the best education we can with the resources we have and using our resources wisely. The morale among the teachers is very, very low right now because they feel they don't have any input. I would like to see more respect given to teachers, bus drivers, food service workers--everybody who deals with students on a daily basis."
Les Rowland Les has been a county resident for nine years. He is formerly from Whitfield County. His wife is principal at Chatsworth Elementary School. Les is a former policeman and firefighter. "I feel like we need some changes, common sense and good judgment in the decisions being made for our children. I don't see the reason behind some of the decisions being made by the school board and I feel I have something to offer in that respect."

District 6
Faye Brindle (I) Faye is currently serving her first term on the school board. Both her children graduated from MCHS as honor students with 13 years of perfect attendance. "We believe in going to school. I am running for office again because I still believe in the Murray County School system. There are so many unfinished projects I would like to see finished."
Crystal Felty Crystal is a 1988 graduate of MCHS and has lived in the county her entire life. She is currently employed as a legal assistant. "We have only one child and it is very important for us to give back to our school system. We feel it is a good way for us to make a positive difference for Grant and others. We are very concerned by the educational opportunity given to all children. Children don't come in a cookie cutter format. We don't want to see any children overlooked."
District 7
Brad Sanford Brad is a plant manager at Mohawk Industries and is actively involved in youth sports. "I would like to have some change on the school board and some fresh faces and ideas. I want the people, the teachers and the students to have people on the school board they can trust to go to with concerns. I don't know if they have that right now."
Joshua Scott Young Joshua is a graduate of MCHS and has lived in Murray County his entire life. He is currently employed in printing sales. "I was in the education system for two years as a substitute teacher and a paraprofessional for one year. Being in the system and seeing some of the things going on makes you want to have a voice. I want to get in there and see what I can do. I had contemplated running prior to this year. Any decision I make will be in the best interest of the kids."
