Subject: Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators (GACE)-Advisory Committee Application

The Georgia Professional Standards Commission (PSC) and National Evaluation Systems, Inc. (NES®) are seeking Georgia educators to participate in development activities for the Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators (GACE). GACE is a newly initiated assessment program for individuals seeking Georgia educator certification. You have received this communication because you have been identified as a Georgia educator who may be able to offer a valuable perspective about the knowledge and skills that are important for Georgia public school educators to have. We hope that you will consider participating in the development activities for this important program. For further information and to apply for advisory committee participation, please go to http://www.gacomm.nesinc.com. At this Web site, you will be able to do the following:

1. Review the Program Information Flyer that describes the roles of the advisory committees, the eligibility requirements for committee membership, and information about committee member participation.

2. Complete and submit the Committee Application Form online or print and complete the Committee Application Form and send it to NES by mail or fax. We also encourage you to forward this e-mail to other Georgia educators (public school educators or educator preparation personnel) who may be interested in participating in the development activities.

The PSC will select advisory committee members in preparation for the first set of meetings planned for the fall of 2005; therefore, educators are asked to submit applications by August 26, 2005. If you have questions about the GACE program or Georgia educator preparation rules, please call Dr. F.D. Toth at the Georgia Professional Standards Commission at (404) 232-2594. If you would like more information about the advisory committee application process or have questions regarding the test development process, please contact Heather Klesch at National Evaluation Systems, Inc., at gacomm@mail.nesinc.com or call (413) 256-0444. Thank you for your time and consideration. The participation of Georgia educators is a critical part of helping to ensure that the assessments will reflect the knowledge and skills needed by prospective Georgia public school educators.
